With a dominant victory during the first race at SuperSpa, Marcel Frijlink managed to secure the Fast Seventies title of the year 2025. With this he became the first Fast Seventies Benelux Champion and he can add another title to his long list of honors.
Close competitors Jan-Willem Oosterhagen, reigning champion in his Escort RS2000, and Gerd Rijper in the Porsche RSR were unable to overtake him after this first race. This immediately offered the opportunity to honour Marcel as the new champion. And that was nice, because after the second race everyone wants to go home...
With his Ford Escort RS1600, Marcel had a great season, with only one clear result after a collision with an overconfident opponent during the first race at Assen. With hard work, he managed to have the car ready for races 2 and 3 in the same weekend and still score the necessary points. A well-deserved title, which has extra shine because Marcel is celebrating his 25th anniversary as a taxidermist this year. With his company Classic Competition, he has been building racing and rally cars for 25 years, mainly with Ford technology. This makes it an important pillar of the Fast Seventies series, because it is no coincidence that so many Escorts drive in it.
